Professor David D. Laitin will begin with a comparison of late 19th and early 21st century migration into the US and Europe, drawing implications for integration success of immigrants and economic effects on the native populations. Focusing then on contemporary migration patterns, he will address issues of discrimination at the individual level, bureaucratic practices, and voting behavior in the context of Europe.

Speaker:
David D. Laitin is the James T. Watkins IV and Elise V. Watkins Professor of Political Science at Stanford University. 
In 2016, Laitin became co-director of Stanford’s Immigration Policy Lab.
