Jason Phillips is a Partner at McKinsey & Company and Leader of McKinsey’s PE Operating Partner/Portfolio Improvement Service Line. His functional focus is on structuring and driving strategic and operational transformations — incorporating lean manufacturing, procurement and design-to-value — across a range of industries including aerospace and defense, consumer products, home goods, building materials and industrial components. Prior to joining McKinsey, Jason was a business unit president with Kohler Co. for eight years, where he turned around and repositioned The McGuire Company, a vertically-integrated designer home furnishings company with production operations in two countries and distribution on five continents, driving accelerated, profitable growth. He spent the first decade of his career in Investment Banking, initially in New York with Smith Barney, and subsequently in San Francisco with Montgomery Securities and Wit Capital, providing financing and advisory services to leading growth consumer, retail and consumer technology companies, including many companies in the portfolios of private equity and venture capital firms. Jason earned a BA, cum laude, in Religion and Art History, from Williams College, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He lives in San Francisco with his wife and two children.
