Joy Koo
Program Strategist
Cynthia Joy Koo is Program Strategist at World Affairs, applying her creativity and curiosity to develop thought-provoking programs with inspiring colleagues.
Previously, Joy was Client Services Director at Intramed West, a division of Sudler & Hennessey, where she worked with Fortune 500 clients to develop impactful marketing strategies and campaigns. Prior to that, she managed scientific alliances at Entelos, a biotech company which developed biological models for drug discovery. She came to the Bay Area following an 11-year career at Merck & Co. in a range of engineering and marketing positions in the U.S., Canada and the U.K.
Joy graduated with a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. She obtained her MBA from SDA Bocconi School of Management in Milan, Italy. Throughout her education she has been able to weave her passion for travel—managing to live, study and work in Austria, Finland and Japan. Before World Affairs, Joy spent nearly a decade living in Asia and raising her young children.
Outside of World Affairs, you will find Joy volunteering with several organizations focused on advocating for the education, health, and welfare of all Mill Valley children.
