Human trafficking is a scourge that circles our globe. Once thought to only affect other countries, the US has been shown to be one of the highest perpetrators of sex trafficking and is significant in its labor trafficking, as well. This program will focus on the impact of US involvement in human trafficking outside the US and the possible reasons that committing this crime abroad may seem to some to be less of a crime.

Schedule:
Coffee and Cookies: 7:00—7:30 PM PT
Lecture: 7:30—8:30 PM PT

Speaker:
Laurel Botsford is a communications professional, convention speaker, conference organizer and advocate. She took on the task of preventing human trafficking in 2014 as a trained volunteer for Shared Hope International and in 2018 founded Wisdom International: Help2Others. Across the years, Laurel’s focus has remained on building “Prevention Before Harm” knowledge and skills against human trafficking into everyone’s daily life through developing and delivering individualized, age and culture-appropriate trainings for clubs, schools, and agencies. She hosts community events with her partners: Survivors, Tribal Leaders, coalitions, law enforcement, victim services and legal services, with each sharing best practices to end human trafficking from all angles.

Co-sponsors:
This program is generously co-sponsored by United Nations Association of Marin and the League of Women Voters Marin County.
